The IDEA is a brand-new PHEV, designed for commercial and government fleets, that achieves breakthroughs in platform efficiency. Through aerodynamics and lightweighting, Bright Automotive developed the IDEA to be safer and more fuel-efficient than any light-duty commercial vehicle in its class. The all-wheel-drive-capable IDEA operates in all-electric mode for 40 miles (64 km) before switching to an estimated 40-mpg (5.9 L/100 km) hybrid mode for 100+ mpg (2.4 L/100 km) potential based on daily driving behavior. The IDEA’s unprecedented efficiency leads to solutions for energy independence, job creation, economic challenges, and sustainability goals, including reduction of air pollution and CO2. By significantly lowering fuel costs, the IDEA provides businesses with a powerful high-mileage solution that lowers overall operational expenses per vehicle. Customer input was implemented throughout development, resulting in a vehicle that enhances productivity through secure, safe, driver-friendly details such as an easy-access 70/30 split rear door, wide side door, integrated bulkhead, convertible office and interactive touch-screen computer. Built for work, the IDEA has a payload capacity of 2000 lbs (907 kg) and 180 cu feet (5.1 cu meter) cargo space. Sustainability is imbedded into the IDEA’s entire life cycle - constructed with natural fibers and recycled materials, and manufactured using eco-friendly methods, the IDEA is good for the planet from creation to conclusion.
