Meet Capitals star Nick Jensen and mascot Slapshot!

Nick Jensen is a great skating hard-nosed NHL defenseman currently in his 5th NHL season. The Minnesota native joined the Washington Capitals in February 2019, when the Caps picked him up in a trade with the Detroit Red Wings preparing for the playoffs to defend their Championship. Jensen played in nearly every remaining game in the Capitals’ 2019 season, including all seven postseason games. The Capitals immediately signed Jensen to a four-year contract following the trade.

Jensen competed for the United States at the 2018 IIHF World Championship, recording one goal and three assists on the bronze-winning U.S. squad. Jensen spent three years in Detroit, preceded by two years on the Red Wings’ top minor-league team, the Grand Rapids Griffins. Jensen played college hockey at Saint Cloud State (Minn.), where he won AHCA First-Team All-American honors in 2013.
