It took a while, but Nissan finally came out with a second-generation Tennessee-built full-size Titan pickup. Now the line is being extended with a second version of the Titan that’s arriving. In place of the XD’s Cummins-built turbo-diesel engine the new half-ton model will run with a 5.6-liter gasoline V-8 rated at 390 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque. That compares with the 5.0 turbo-diesel V-8’s 310 horsepower and 555 pound of torque. The half-ton gets a different chassis that’s about a foot shorter in distance between the front and rear wheels. The truck also sits 1.5 inches lower to the ground. Initially only crew cab body styles will be available in rear- and four-wheel-drive. Later in the model year Titan buyers will also be able to select both regular and extended-cab versions.
Both the Nissan Titan and the Nissan Titan XD will be on display.
